Here are four of my best places for Senior photos. Whether you are located in Cypress, Texas, Katy, Texas, or any other part of the Houston Metro area, you can make great use of these spots and have some amazing Senior photos!
Can I shoot senior photos at my high school?
Senior Photos at my high school? Yes! Some of your best memories were on that campus so how about a few shots at some of the places you hung out? If you are an athlete, talk to the coach about getting access to the football field, track, or gym for some action shots, especially wearing your sports uniform. I know you are probably ready to leave that school forever 🙂 but years from now, you will love those memories!
Can I shoot graduation photos on a college campus?
Are you attending college locally? College campuses ranks high as one of the best places for senior photos. Take a walk around the campus including the Student center and other popular areas since you will be seeing a lot of them for the next 4 years. The main campus of the University of Houston, Texas Southern University, and even Houston Community College or Lone Star College (Lone Star College has several campuses and each one offers a nice background for Graduation photos) are good options for some great photos. Of course, if you are attending college away, find a nice local spot and wear a college t-shirt!
Shooting Senior Photos at local parks
Another of my best places for senior photos are local parks. In the Katy, Texas area, one of the more popular parks in Peckham Park, which is off the Grand Parkway close to I-10 West. Peckham Park has a man-made lake with a fishing pier, trees, grassy areas, and a nice gazebo to give you a nice relaxed look for some of your photos. A very popular park in Houston is of course Hermann Park near Downtown Houston and the Medical Center.
Hermann Park has a reflecting pool, a lake, bridges, and The Japanese Garden is also located there. Another great park is the Houston Arboretum located inside Loop 610. The Arboretum has beautiful walking trails and plenty of options for photos.
Some of the local parks now require a permit for professional photography so make sure you get the costs and a reservation ahead of time to keep from being asked to leave the property and not get your photos done!
Shooting Senior photos at Graffiti parks
Most cities have places where local artist gather and paint graffiti or murals. In Houston, there is the Graffiti Park, again near Downtown Houston, and the Harrisburg Art Museum, located in East Houston. both locations have large mural walls and the artwork changes often so even if your favorite wall is not longer there, you will have plenty of choices. Again, for professional photos at the Harrisburg Art Museum, there is a small fee, so have your photographer confirm ahead of time, but it is well worth it!
Outdoor shopping centers for Senior Photos
Before shooting at some of the outdoor areas, please call ahead or have your photographer call ahead to get permission as some of them charge a fee to shoot there. In Katy, there is La Centera, located off the Grand Parkway and another great outdoor area for photos is City Centre located off Beltway 8 and I-10. In the Cypress/Tomball area, Vintage Park is a good choice, but again, make sure you have permission of the property management before just showing up so you do not get refused.
Take a look at my gallery for more location options and I can offer others when you book me. These are just a few of my best places for senior photos, but when you are ready to book, please contact me and we can discuss pricing and options!
